Can JAMon can be used for standalone Java application? I saw few articles about using JAMon to monitor Web application.

You can either print the monitors to a log file, write the report as an html file (MonitorFactory.getReport() returns an html table of the results), or get the raw data in the form of an Object and display that in any way you want. These examples follow:
Of course if you are in a web environment you can simply use jamon.war to display the statistics.
