I think, the Author's Forum should be open for all. It could serve as good stage for authors to get feedback/suggestions/criticism from their dear readers and ultimately will help the authors and and the whole community to get better and better books.
That is what all the OTHER forums are for. The authors are out there posting in the other forums. If you want to offer feedback/suggestions/criticism etc., go the Book Reviews forum, find the book that you want to discuss, and put in your thoughts. The authors would love to hear from you.

OTHER forums and Book Review Forums makes around atleast 30+ forums... else then there will be one point of communication to Authors... Another thing .. in Book Review Forum, I can talk about only the book which is being reviewed. I cant talk abt author OR can give feedback to someother book which is not being reviewed by the same author. OR I cant discuss the style of writing of author... or any general thing about author. AW an opnion was asked and I simply given my valuable opinion

Authors are indeed out there posting in other forums. If you were to post a message in virtually any forum with the title "Jess in Action" you can bet I'd reply! I suspect the same is true of the other authors who are members of JavaRanch.

Thats true .. I just posted this as it was asked But now on serious note... ME:
That sounds more like a Reader's Forum.
Reader's forum... hmm 'no' .. reader's are not discussing authors but they want authors to listen. Ernest Friedman-Hill:

OTHER forums and Book Review Forums makes around atleast 30+ forums... And where should I post .. [truly, I have no questions for authors.. as generally I read on net these days. Last book I bought was for SCJP, author ME.]. Is General computing forum fine ?? On lighter side: Who did put this quote "Let a Sheriff know if you think that you should have access" on Moose Saloon ? S/he is the main culprit of this non-sense discussion.
RK: Reader's forum... hmm 'no' .. reader's are not discussing authors but they want authors to listen. ME: So what you want is to use the Authors' Forum as an audience for reader viewpoints. I want to use the Authors' Forum to talk to other authors about how they go about producing a book. I see the two as discussions that do not overlap all that much. It might be interesting to provide "read-only" access to readers -- humorously appropriate -- but sometimes authors want to bitch about stuff they deal with, and it's hard to feel safe when the occasional reader decides to take offense at a comment that was never aimed at them -- not that that would ever happen on JavaRanch.

Sorry ... I thought authors already have been granted access and its me who is being asked. But now I see that you are inviting authors to contact Sheriff Sorry for interruption.
