Hello Ranchers,
I am trying to build a tool which allows me to capture and analyse all the data that is going from and coming to the host computer. Is there any way by means of which I can get the hold over the data which is coming to and going from the browser. The data could be the HTTP packets and the information could be the round trip time , client's browser , OS etc.
Thanks in advance
Samir

There already are tools like WireShark that do the same thing.
Any special reasons for making one yourself.

The latest FireFox browser with the Firebug plugin can track all HTTP requests with time used, etc. The array of plugin goodies for Firefox is mind-boggling.

If you want to build your own, you might start by looking at the source for TCPMON. This page shows how TCPMON is used.

Actually, Firefox 3.0 hasn't yet added Firebug support (at least as of a day or 2 back). I'm hoping that gets fixed soon. Some of my other plugins have been trickling in, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Some people have been known to hack plugins to gain access, but I'm not yet that desperate.

My Firefox 3.0 is running Firebug quite happily for the last couple of weeks. Quite a mindboggling tool.
