There are tens of Portal system in java.
portal is not a groupware ,a java portal can be changed to be a goupware by adding enough required portlets.

to find out all portals in java (open source) look at :
http://www.java-source.net/open-source/portals

to find a clone of phpNuke look at:

http://www.jetnuke.org

it is very clean implementation of a groupware like phpNuke in java . you will find it very capable.
