difference between TIM and TAM

Does Tivoli Identity manager and Tivoli Association Identity manager are different.

Do we need TIM with portal server of TAM is sufficient?

I did some research and found out TIM and TAM are different compont.
TIM is basically for handling identity managment for Websphere portal.
TAM is for imposing access policy for the portal.

Will keep posting as I will dig into it.
