JSR286 has been ratified, and the API really fills in the holes from JSR-168.

My question is this: how long does it take for Apache or whoever to come up with an implementation of the spec? Any guesses? When will we see a JetSpeed server that supports JSR-286? When will we see a Pluto portlet container that allows you to write JSR286 portlets?

I'm anxious. Any ideas on how long it typically takes to go from spec to first implementation?

The final draft is not out yet ...
The current status of JSR 286 is that it has been released for public review .

After this , it will take some time for the final draft to come out ( say 2-3 months ) . Expect JSR 286 complaint Portal Servers to be out after 1-2 months of final release.

I recently attend a IBM Class on Portal admin/development. According to the instructor Portal 6.x may have some features of JSR286 but they are currently working on it and plan to rollout by 2008 3rd-4th qtr...
