Hi,

I have a machine which has RAD and portal toolkit installed. The thing is that i do not have the password for the Admin user. I tried changing the password by updating the config files but i believe it needs the password in an encoded format.

If I add a user with some password and use the same password as stored in the database and apply it to the wpsadmin user, it will help but how do I access the cloudscape database. The config file does hold info about the wpsdb used along with the driver and stuff .. but wanted to check whether anyone out there has been there done that.

Thanks
Dharmesh

Figured out!!!

In case you guys out there are interested ... here is the mechanism.

-Start your portal server

-Create a new user with the password of you choice <remember the password>. Lets say you created the user with id PORTALUSER1

-once created ,Stop your portal server

-Go to the directory <portalInstallation>\AppServer\cloudscape\bin\networkServer and execute the batch file cview.bat

-This will bring up the cloudspace database tool.

-From the menu bar select File->Open and in the file dialog box navigate to the folder <portalinstallation>\PortalServer\cloudscape. Select the wpsdb folder and click Open

-Once in the wpsdb database, Expand the "Tables" tree and click on the table
WMMUSERREG. On the right side panel you will see a tab by the name "Data". On clicking on the tab you will notice all the users created in the portal .It will also have the entry for the user "PORTALUSER1".

-Note down the USER_ID number for the "PORTALUSER1" and also the admin user
Lets assume the USER_ID for PORTALUSER1 is 8888 and for admin user is -1000

-Scroll all the way up in the left panel and click on the database. The right panel will show the sql editor. type the following query in there.

UPDATE WMMUSERREG SET logonpassword = (SELECT logonpassword FROM WMMUSERREG WHERE user_id = 8888), salt = (SELECT salt FROM WMMUSERREG WHERE user_id = 8888) WHERE user_id = -1000

-Once you execute the script, close the tool and start the portal server

-The admin password will now be the password you entered while creating PORTALUSER1
