Developing portlets without JSF/ADF

My organization uses Oracle products so I use JDeveloper. We are starting to develop portlets which is nice in JDeveloper except for the fact that it assumes you are using JSF and ADF. We do not want to use these technologies.

For example, I am trying to add a portlet to a JSP. If I use JDeveloper, it bloats my codebase with JSF and ADF related stuff and forces me to use JSF and ADF tag libraries. All I want to do is add a portlet to a page!

I want to continue to use JDeveloper but Oracle's extensive documentation is now useless to me.

Does anybody know of a good JSR 168 tutorial which is IDE-neutral? Or does anybody have JDeveloper tricks that will help me out?
