How to send unix commands using java Appln

Hello techies,
I'm trying to write a Java Program which connects to UNIX m/c (like telnet) and sends general UNIX commands. I opened a socket to UNIX m/c and read the inputstream. But what I'm getting is all junk characters. Pls help.

If you're attempting to write a telnet type application in Java for Unix, then you have to follow the Telnet RPC. I remember reading a while back that there's a few things that you have to do in order to authenticate you to the server and as well as sending/receiving commands.
Try looking on www.google.com on the telnet RPC
