Hi,
I searched everywhere to get an example which meta information getContentEncoding() is reading, but I only found the 1 line help from the sun doc. Does anybody has an example for this method or maybe knows a html-page to apply the function?
Thanks
Markus

You are talking about HTTPUrlConnection. Content-Encoding is usable by the http protocol to minimize the use of band width. If a client browser can accept it, a server can encode the contents and send them along. When the server does this, it sets the HTTP header filed Content-Encoding with the type of encoding used. for more details, read Quick reference to HTTP headers

See also RFC2616, section 3.5 "Content Codings".
