I want to find a good topic for my graduation project. It is going to be for a master's degree in computer science. My advisor's research interest is in Networking. And he wants me to do something new. Do you guys have something in mind? The implementation itself is not a big deal, it's just very very tough to find a good topic, especially, when you want to find
something new.
Please kindly drop me a few lines if you know of, ever thought of some idea which is good enough for a graduation project for MS in computer
science. Thanks a lot!

So if we come up with your idea, do we get to be recongnized in your thesis for coming up with your thesis topic for you??? That would cool.

Peer to Peer networking, or somehow work
your networking software into the topic
of Grid computing. Those are two future
"hot" areas.
For peer to peer, JXTA might be something
good to look at.

Yes! Don't worry, I will, in the preface of the star paper, say "my acknowledgement first goes to Mr. Gregg Bolinger who offered the terrific idea of blah blah. Without his generous offer of this idea, the current project would not have been possible."
How does this sound to you, sir?

Hey, David,
Thank you very much. I'll definitely take a look at those you mentioned.

I did some research on the web about P2P. It sounds very interesting to me. But what kind of applications should I write? Another Napster or ICQ? (I may not necessarily implement my project in Java. I can do it in C/C++.)

Hmmm. Ideas, ideas.
You could try to find some interesting way in which connected computers can converse in full duplex over a single socket (the sort of protocol you might need for an online whiteboard, or for voice chat) without any of that division into client-server mumbo jumbo.

That is also intriguing, thanks.
