I have set up an RMI application that resides on a server behind a firewall. The firewall has been set up to allow through the port I have specified in the rmiregistry command. However RMI seems to be using extra ports thus causing the firewall to block my RMI application.
Does anyone know how to set up RMI so it only uses the one port ? I have noticed a couple of articles on running a cgi script that uses HTTP over RMI but I want to try and avoid going down that path.
thanks,
Ralph

I worked this one out myself. For those that want to know.
When extending the UnicastRemoteObject you need to pass the port number into the constructor.
eg
MatrixImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject {
MatrixImpl() {
super(51222);
}
