Hi there! I don't have a lot of java experience, but for one of my labs at school I must create a java applet based chat room. It also must use connection pooling.
My question:
I get the error in my Tomcat window
[INFO] Http11Protocol - -SocketException reading request, ignored
...and then nothing happens, I'm pretty sure the chat applet code is correct, as well as the jsp page in which it is embedded. I read the api info on the -SocketException and it said that there was an error in an underlying protocol like TCP. The lab is due really soon so I have to get this problem solved. Anyone think they can help me? Please

Hi Imn,
Welcome to JavaRanch. Maybe you need to post the offending code and let us take a look at it along with the full stack trace on the exception. You may want to test the Applet in AppletViewer and see if you get the same exception. Sometimes web containers like Tomcat can seem intolerable. You just need to isolate where the problem is.

Well, I'm glad we could help you Imn. Please come back if you run across some more sticky wickets.

- well, and if you did solve the problem.. could you describe the problem better again and the way you solvbed it too??
I am sure, the others who *may* come across the same problem or may be even a similar one would spend lesser time looking for a solution, if *you* posted it.
Thanks mate!
Cheers
