Dear all,
I am attempting to develop a socket application which transmit voice
from one PC 's microphone to another PC 's speaker.Anyone
know how to do this in Java.If someone can provide me guideline or
sample code, I would be much appreciate, since the deadline is tight, only
3 days ->06-10-2003.
You can mail me at helloworld_my@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance.

Hi Peter,
Well, the JMF, or Java Media Framework, would be a good place to start. See
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/ .

You can mail me at helloworld_my@yahoo.com

Nope, we don't do that round these parts, but if you gave your real email address when you signed up for JavaRanch, you could be notified that I'd posted this.

Because dropping a few packets or getting packets in the wrong order is usually not a big deal when streaming audio, people often use UDP instead of TCP. You can learn about UDP in the All About Datagrams section of the java tutorial.
