I am developing a software for our college network. Its about authentication and monitoring the network. I wanted to know if it is possible to manage/control user accounts(OS:Win 2000 Server) including log in of users, access control of remote client computers(win2000 Proff.) etc through a Java Program?

Java is agressively platform independent, so Sun won't have any Java APIs for managing Windows thingies. You can use JNI to call from Java to Java-aware C++ modules, so it would be possible to wrap all the Windows APIs you need in C++ programs and call those from a slick Java UI program. You'd probably ask yourself why you're not using VB or C# about a hundred times a day.
