Hi, welcome to the ranch!

Give us a bit of the flow when a user runs this program. How do they select what file to edit? Where does it come from, disk or web or other? Where do httpget and httpresponse (terms I'm not familiar with by the way) come in?

That's clearer, thanks. You can send an HTTP GET or POST request to an HTTP server and read the response with raw sockets, HttpURLConnection or a nifty package like HttpClient. It's a matter of how much you want to dig into the details vs how quickly you want to deliver.

What do you do with the file once you've downloaded it? Sounds like you have an edit step. Do you save it at the end? I'm wondering if that's an http or ftp operation, too.
