Hi

I have been asked by a friend to write a questionnaire application that involves 10 - 15 user's at a time submitting their answers via a client (probably a browser) over a network to a Server.

I intend to use jsp/servlet to display questions/process answers.

My friend wishes to have just one question per page so only one answer is submitted at a time. I have no problem with this but my friend is requesting that rather than the server sending the next question to the clients as soon as it has processed the previous answers he wants to be able to control when the next question appears on the clients and so that they all appear at the same time.

Any advice would be much appreciated

I had real trouble making up a way for this requirement to makes sense. Maybe he sends question 2 out only after everyone has answered question 1. Or he times them 60 seconds apart no matter how fast somebody answers. Is one of those close?

Sorry for the confusion.

Say for example, the clients have a time limit to respond to the first question, they submit their answers to the server and my friend is able to view the answers from his own PC on the network. Once he has finished viewing them he then dictates when the clients will see the next question in their browser. The clients don't click anything to see the next question it appears in the browsr when my friend submits it too them.

Maybe i am making this out to be more difficult than it really is and the solution is obvious, but a little pointer in the right direction would be extremely helpful.

Thanks for the clarification. This is going to be a rough fit for a web architecture which is really built on request-response pairs with a stateless server. It sounds more like peer to peer chat where instead of sending simple messages to each other you send empty forms for someone to fill in or filled in forms for the instructor to grade.
