I don't know how much informatin can be added under our Display Name that show on the left of our posts, but on some other sites, they have a line that just says:
Contributing Member
And it is a link to the Donation page of their site. I know that we let people who donate pick some crazy little title for themselves (I think) but I think it would be neat to have that also under the username. Plus, it adds a link to our Donate Page everytime those people who have donated to Javaranch post.
Any comments?

I guess I feed a bit mixed about it.
So if somebody donates five cents, they get the dollar sign?
My gut doesn't like the idea and I have no idea why. My brain thinks it's a great idea.

I don't know. Maybe you put a minimum on it? However, five cents is five cents that you didn't have before. Take that * 50,000 and you have 2500 dollars. Imagine if every member we had donated .05 cents a month. That's only .60 a year/member. Ok, do I sound like an ad to feed those poor children yet?
My point is, I would bet most people don't know we accept donations unless they glance at some of the Sherriff's sigs or notice the last link on the side bar at www.javaranch.com. And most people don't know why the "Ugly Redneck" is called that. I didn't know for a little while, and I am a Bartender. HA!
So what if it was only .05 cents? Plus, it adds more links to the Tip Jar. Long story short, I like the idea, that's why I brought it up. But your the Trailboss..
Let's see if anyone else likes the idea before it gets totally nixed.

Gregg --
The Sally Struthers thing is a really good point. Doing something is better than doing nothing at all, even a little.
Of course, I don't think you can donate 5 cents with PayPal, can you?

HA, I don't know. It let me donate .50 cents. HAHA! I think I have a penny in my account right now. I could try it and find out....
