hi
i'm interested in knowing as to how urls of the sites accessed from the comps on the intranet can be extracted using jpcap. I basically want to know, how i can implement a intranet crawler.

Welcome to JavaRanch.

I'm not clear on what a web crawler has to do with snooping on other users. Please elaborate on what you're trying to do.

@Ulf

i'm planning to create an application that would keep track of all the URLs accessed using a PCs on a LAN. I basically intend to catch the DNS queries and extract information about the URLs from it.

Is this possible using jpcap library??

Hope i have made myself clear..

I'm sorry, but this sounds fishy. You'll need to convince us that this is for an honorable purpose.

As an aside, URLs work on a much higher level in the protocol stack than DNS (which is used to resolve host names like www.yahoo.com to IP addresses like 69.147.114.210), so you won't be able to extract URL information from DNS queries.

Also, "ajay v.k", we do require members to have valid display names.

Display names must contain your first name, a space, then your last name. Fictitious names are not allowed.

Please edit your profile and correct your display name since accounts with invalid display names will be deleted.
