decode TCP packets

Hi,
i want to create a program that decode tcp packets and return the sender, the destination and the content + the type.
any idea from where to start? thanks in advance

Start with some other language. Java doesn't provide any support for networking at that low level. At the very least, you'll need to use a lot of JNI code written in C to interface with platform-specific native libraries.

You can decode TCP packet very easily in Java. You don't have to worry about Jini.
There exist a 3rd party free library JPcap for Java..Goto following link. http://netresearch.ics.uci.edu/kfujii/jpcap/doc/index.html

You can download this library and decode all the network packets including
Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, ARP/RARP, TCP, UDP, and ICMPv4.

But those would definately be using native code.
