While having server object and a client applet, it is possible to access methods of server with the help of remote interface passed on to the applet. When the server object tries to callback the client(applet) with the help of reference passed on to it, an exception is being thrown reflecting connection refusal. By converting the applet into an application, things are moving smoothly.

Any solutions ?

Applets r of untrusted code.. so the security manager won't allow to call the applet from the server..

Thanks for your reply Kumar. But, there has to be a solution to have call backs to the applets. This may be a requirement for a chat server communicating with all the applets and any other server of similar kind.

Would the applet be allowed to call a servlet running on your server, which could then communicate with your server object? I'm not clear on whether an applet is allowed security-wise to access a servlet URL (or any other URL for that matter). You could design your servlet to return whatever you want using MIME.
just a thought...
