Hi Guys,
Our system is in an N-tiered architecture. The presentation layer is implemented through CGI-C and Javascripts. The database access layer is in Pro-C and Entera's SQL processor. The functional layer is implemented with ANSI-C. To interconnect all these various components together, we use Entera middleware.
We are planning to convert this system into a pure java application. It's a long term project but i suppose we can use java's jni to reuse most of the C-codes- make a java wrapper for the C-codes.
Our problem now is how to make a server manager. In our current implementation (Entera), we have a broker which serves as the "telephone operator". If a certain client needs services from a certain functional server, the client connects to the broker, then the broker connects the client to the functional server. Everything is transparent is to the client, it's as if the functional server is directly linked to the client's object and running on the same machine. The server manager is able to monitor all the servers running- remote and local. It can startup and shutdown the servers. Is there anyway to do this in java? pls give me details (links to sample source codes if possible). thanks.
Jonathan
