I get the following exception when rmi.Naming.lookup() is called from an application:
java.rmi.ConnectIOException: Exception creating connection to: 121.0.0.34; nested exception is:
java.net.SocketException: connect (code=10061)
I know that code 10061 is the winsock error indicating that the connection was refused. But the application is trying to connect to the machine it's running on, and I have no idea what might be stopping it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

did you start the rmiregistry? If it is running and you connect you'll usually get a 'Not Bound' exception.
Is your machine actually at that ip addresss? Try 127.0.0.1
