rmi problem when trying to run the server

Exception in FibonacciServer: java.rmi.server.ExportException: object already ex
when I try to run the server and this is my exception above I read that this exception means that the port is in use by another VM.....
I really need to figure this out for I am using RMI in my developer assignment..
any suggestions???

this example is from JAVA Network Programming O'REILLY 2nd edition
the website of the 4 needed files are http://metalab.unc.edu/javafaq/books/jnp2e
click on Examples then click chapter 18. get examples 18-1, 18-2,18-3,18-4.
i started the registry without error my classpath is correct..but when I java the server I recieve the same exception..
thanks I am using windows 98 2nd edition both machines peer-to-peer.
