Goal:
To access a subclass of UnicastRemoteObject using a local reference.
Why:
I want to be able to access this subclass locally and remotely
Givens:
class is as follows: public class IDataImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject implements IData.
The remote reference works with no problem.
I have already tried subclassing Activatable but that approach does not work either
Problems:
It appears that instantiating IDataImpl forces the application to wait for a rebind...
Possible solutions:
I guess I could extend UnicastRemoteObject when I know whether the object will be referenced locally or remotely but it just seems like bad design...
How about it any ideas???
Regards,
John

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
