Statement taken from Java Documentation, "The class VMID provides a universally unique identifier among all Java virtual machines. A VMID contains a UID and a host address. A VMID can be used to identify client virtual machines."
So, is it possible to identify a RMI client machine uniquely across all criteria's like LAN, Proxy, etc.
thanx,

Hi
Can be used to identify client manchines across a network supported by the rmi server. You can create a VMID providing the conditions for uniqueness for objects of the class java.rmi.server.UID are satisfied, and b) an address can be obtained for this host that is unique and constant for the lifetime of this object(as mentioned in java api).
Normally used by the distributed garbage collector to identify client VMs.
