Can someone explain this architecture? Basically in our enterprise we have a Servlet/JSP front end application that needs access to some mainframe information for user validation. The current architecture calls for the Servlet to use a CORBA call to interface with an IBM MQ message. I'm not clear on
1) What is an MQ message
2) Why are we using a CORBA call to access the message -- seems like an extra step.
Thanks,

Q1) MQ Manager which probably sits on the server end (mainframe) manages the MQ message queing and any requests/responses from/to the server
Q2) We are using MQ manager and in order to access it(MQ message/events), we need to make a corba call from a client (java app).
Hope this helps.

But why can't the client interface with MQ directly? We are using WAS, so I know it can. Is there a reason for another layer of CORBA?
