I am writing an application at work to access data from an XML file on a different machine. I have no deadline and I would love to learn CORBA so I'm taking advantage of the assignment to do this.
It's all Java and I've already written the jdom code to access the file. I would say that RMI is the most practical thing to use but seeing as I can use CORBA, and want to learn it, is it a good idea to do this? Or is the effort required really not going to be worth it? Other than that, I don't have ORBIX or any vendor ORB stuff so I'm stuck with what comes with the jdk. Is this enough?
Thanks for any words of wisdom.
Paul
