Hi, I am a regular visitor to this site. About 10 days back I got a private message from Mark Herschberg telling that I have won a book "j2ee core patterns" (as part of scheme going on the site) and asking for my address details. I sent him the details and asked him whether books are sent ouside US but have heard nothing from him since then. What is the policy of javaranch about these books? Can one receive them if one is outside US?
First, relax, this is genuine. Take a lok at http://www.javaranch.com/pastwinners.jsp to see some of the people who have won books in previous promotions. Your name is listed near the bottom of the page. Congratulations! Books are certainly sent out of the USA. The main problem is that the books are dispatched direct from the publisher, and some publishers are better/faster than others. I'm in England; I won a book a year or two ago and got it eventually. I have recently also won another, but not seen it "in the flesh" yet. If you still have not received the book in a month or so, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and someone will do their best to find out what has happened to it.
The list went to the publisher today. Only two of the winners responded and I had been trying to get the other winners to respond (the publishers prefer one list and not four separate lists). So give it about a month from today.
Hi Paul, First accept my apology for not giving you your due credit of updating me on the book. It is so because I deleted your first message. ( I think Mark's name came to my mind because I visit job discussion forum frequently) I did not receive your second message though. There must be some error there. I just wanted to claify things so as to know whether I can expect the book in first place. ( Anyway one can not complain much if one is getting free ride, isn't it? ) Thanks once again for following up with publisher. I will let you know when I receive the book.
