Off hand, I can imagine distributed computing to be of two forms. One is where the Server does the jobs submitted by all its clients. (Smaller machines take advantage of one 'big' machine) The other could be where, the clients work on different parts of a massive job which is distributed and then the results are collected by the server. (A machine having several slaves to do a 'big' job) My question was, do these two paradigms have different names in the Distr. Computing world?
Well RMI could be used for both in the java language. I don't know if there are distict names for the processes you describe. There probably is, btu I don't know what they are. Why do you ask?
