The biggest problem in recommending sites is the recent release of JINI 2.0 - it has some major changes and security improvements. You are much more likely to find resources for the earlier version, but I think the new version is the way to go for the future.

I recently wrote an introductory article about Jini to the JavaRanch Journal. I hope it helps. I've been meaning to write a sequel that continues the journey, but I've been swamped at work and home so my productive spare hours have been very limited lately...
