rmiregistry says port already in use  RSS feed

ok, so when i try to run rmiregistry i get this error message:

java.rmi.server.ExportException: Port already in use: 1099...

along with a bunch of nested exceptions.

it wasn't doing this before. i'm not running anything on that port (as far as i know). and according to the nmap utility the port is available.

any help is appreciated.

i used a different port and it works...but i'm still curious as to why is suddenly won't use 1099...

anyway, it's not urgent.

A good possibility is that your RMI registry from a previous attempt is still running on port 1099. If you're on a Unix-like system, do a "ps x | grep rmi" to find out.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
