I use the sample code of <<java rmi>>(o'reilly book), but I find I can't start the rmiregistry: either use the command line or .bat file.

After I type the "rmiregistry", it just blocked, nothing happened.

I have turned off the fire wall.My system is winXP professional, JDK 1.4.2.
I also rebuild the jdk 1.5, but the problem remains.

Can any one tell me what's the information after rmiregistry starts.
what's wrong with my rmiregistry?

Many thanks!

Hi,

That's all rmiregistry is supposed to do. It just sits there and listens for connections. Open another terminal window and start your server -- then launch your client in a third window.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
