I've come into a legacy application that uses Corba (I'm not overly familiar with Corba). I'm getting the following exception when trying to retrieve an object from the server:

My initial hunch is that it's having trouble serializing/deserializing an object but I'm not familiar enough to know for sure. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

The exception is BAD_OPERATION. It is a standard CORBA system exception.

"unmarshalSystemException" is a method name, and is specific to your particular ORB.

BAD_OPERATION means that you have tried to invoke, on an object, an operation that it does not support. Often this means that the client code and server code were built against different versions of the interface across which they are trying to communicate.

Apart from the BAD_OPERATION exception, the stack trace you have provided tells us nothing, because all it shows is that the client is re-throwing an exception that the server threw. Maybe there is some log file on the server that might contain more information about what happened.
