adding security to rmi

hi,
i want to add security to a RMI client server scenario.
what i means is when a RMI call is made by the client, the server should be able to verify the authenticity of the client.
is there any APIs available for this?

You could send a password as one of the parameters of the call.

SSL is part of Java and is available to RMI. There is a tutorial at the Sun site.

Jini is another choice. Jini supports a finer grained security then basic RMI.
