Hi,

Is there anyway to stop JSF redraw the screen? I have some buttons that send data to backend and don't need to update the GUI at all.

Thanks,
Sarah

Only way around that would be to look into the XMLHttpRequest Object...

The screen "redraw" as you call it is actually a page refresh. Everytime an event occurs within JSF a request is sent to the server, which sends back a response (basic Http stuff) and the page gets refreshed or, redrawn.

Like Eric said XMLHttpRequest object is the only way to drive dynamic data without refreshing the web page.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
