Dependency on IDE

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I am wondering if there is any dependency on IDEs for JSF applications. I am new to JSF and wondering if the JSF application developed on say Rational Application Developer IDE would work with JBoss or JDeveloper based JSF app. works on other app. servers without any issues?

Also,
Are there any plugins for Rational Application Developer to use MyFaces components.

Thanks,
Jitender.

If you are developing JSF Application than there is NONE dependency But if you are using IBM RAD than RAD uses IBM's JSF. Even I would not consider that as dependency because you can Export full EAR which take whole project with related jar files. Remember that IBM RAD use IBM's JSF Implement It is JSF + IBM added functionality (e.g. hx tag). We had bit trouble when we migrate our application from JSF (IBM Implemented) to MyFaces on RAD v6.

Other than that yes your server should support java version, j2ee level 1.4 (Actually I dont remember real version no) and etc. but this are common issues not related with JSF.

Do you use any plug in for RAD to build myfaces components based JSF application? please tell me the details.

Thanks,
Jitender.

Nope!! No Plug in. Just need to replace few JAR files.

1) Add j2ee.jar file (Which you will not find in RAD or if it is exist than leave it as it is)
2) Replace jsf-impl.jar with MyFaces one. (Existing might have IBM jsf-impl.jar). File name is same but If you open file you will see package structure org.myfaces.....

3) Remove following from Web.xml file

In Short, Remove whereever you see IBM Faces

I hope this help you

But don't bet on Sun Developer Studio, the codes you create using that would not work on other IDE
Oh sure, it's a tiny ad, but under the right circumstances, it gets bigger.
