Hi authors, I would like to ask the authors where to start out if I would like to know more about building web pages using standard UI components. Can I just start reading the book (snap fingers) like that if you are completely new to the j2ee world? If one has an enormous interest in designing UI's on the web using standard components and procedures - would this be a good book to begin with ? Thanks.

Hello,

JSF: The Complete Reference was written for both intermediate to beginner J2EE developers as well as for advanced J2EE developers.

Part 1 of the book is more introductory and doesn't assume so much background knowledge however general familiarity with basic J2EE web development is assumed from the start. Basically you should know what JSPs, tag libraries and servlets are. This is all important background knowledge and anyone new to Faces should have some basic understanding of these technologies while getting started with Faces.

Part 2 focuses more on advanced topics of customizations, security and internationlization and accessibility. So this section should satisfy the more advanced developers.

The remainder of the book is more reference focused with component references as well as discussions on IDEs and other components.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. It was what I meant, more or less. Then it sounds like a book for me, since I have some basic knowledge of the concepts used in the book (and need a little more to get goin'). Sorry for my topic, but I was thinking something else when I posted.
