Hello All,

I am developing an application that involves some charts and graphs (bar graph, pie chart etc). What is the best (and preferably free or open-source) tool that works great with JSF? I have used JFreeChart before, but that was using JSP and Servlets. Will JFreeChart work ok with JSF? Has anybody tried this before?

Any comments, opininons, advice or links to helpful sites will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have used graphs with JSF using Java Applets and that works good. I have used JFreeChart for generating graphs. I have used Applets because the requirement was that graphs should be interactive (means clickable etc) so i have to capture different events like mouse clicks etc.

Let me know if you want to know anything else ;)

Hi Ali,

Thanks for the reply. I am starting to tinker around with how to integrate JFreeChart with JSF. If possible, can you give me a basic example on how you were able to integrate JFreeChart with JSF? The application that I am building involves just a basic rendering of the graphs on the page. So when the user clicks on a "Draw Graph" button for instance, it will navigate to another page with the graph, nothing fancy like applets and stuff.

Thanks a lot. ;)

Hi Ali,

I was able to integrate JFreeChart with JSF.

I found a cool component in this site Chart Creator. Pretty cool stuff. Makes the rendering of charts cleaner and easier. It might be of use to you in the future so check it out.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your input. ;)
