Hi All,

The UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES phase of JSF Lifecycle is getting skip. Can any body tell me what could be the possible reason.

Thanks in advance

Hi Richard,

First thanks for the response, yes i am using immediate="true" in UICommand and also in some UIInput for which i want to set the value in backing bean. I am using custom validator and converter, which are getting called properly(I am sure because printing proper SOP).

Acording to me if i am using immediate="true" in UICommand and some UIInput.

PROCESS_VALIDATIONS Phase will get skip.

and in the APPLY_REQUEST_VALUES phase converter and validator for the UIInput for which immediate="true" will get call.

After that UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES phase will get call.

After that INVOKE_APPLICATION phase will get call.

and at the last RENDER_RESPONSE phase will get call.

This is my understanding about JSF lifecycle and effect of attribute immediate="true" on JSF lifecycle.
Please make me correct if i am wrong.

So in my case the setter are not getting called at all.
What could be the passible reason?

sorry for my english.

It might be worth reading the http://balusc.xs4all.nl/srv/dev-jep-djl.html article to get some insight in the JSF lifecycle.

Dear Bauke,

Thanks for sending me the link, i gone through it.

So if i am using immediate="true" in the h:commandButton "Update model values" this phase is skipped.

But if I want to use some values in backing bean, how to get them?

Just remove immediate="true".
