I'm trying to work my way through Geary/Horstmann's "Core Java Server Faces" and am having a problem with the library application in chapter 8. BTW, he has a new edition coming out in a couple of months so maybe this problem is fixed there. Also they admit to a "sleigh-of-hand" in this application and this may be it.

library/bookMenu.jsp is the following two line program:

<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" prefix="c" %>
<c:import url="${book.directory}/${chapter}.html"/>

The error message is: "According to TLD or attribute directive in tag file, attribute url does not accept any expresssions".

Any suggestions? Is this something that changed in the latest release?

I solved my own problem, it was just a version mismatch. All I had to do was add /jsp to the taglib, to wit:
<%@tablib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
Hope I didn't waste anybody's time. Thanks.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
