Hello,

I'm new to jsf. I'm using a datatable.
At the top there are 3 buttons (new, change and delete).
In the beginning only the new button is enabled.

It works fine. When I select an item in a column with a commandLink the row is selected and the data are displayed in a new page.
What I want now, is to select a row of a datatable without being linked to another page. I just want to click on a row so that it becomes the current row and so that the change and delete buttons become enabled and the new button disabled. And so that afterwards I can choose what to do with the row. Change or delete.
A double click on a row must have the same effect as click on row + change button.

I suppose this needs a combination with javascript?

If somebody could give me a hint or an example?

Thanks,
Nico

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
