I'm about to rewrite an existing mvc (servlet/jsp) app to be ajaxed. What framework would you recommend? It's been a while since i've looked into it and some recommendations would be handy. I've done some jsf 1.1 and the ready rolled ajax frameworks weren't there when I last looked. It wasn't that easy to hook it all up with ajax. Are there any new frameworks that have come about in the last year I should read up on? I liked the lifecycle of jsf but the framework was slightly heavyweight. (it has to be a java framework before i get rails recommendations ;-) ) Is struts 2 a better way of going about it using something like dojo/json for the transports/events?

I guess my question is has jsf now got any built-in ajax support? is struts 2 better for sending fairly lightweight messages say using json?

Thanks,

S

Upon core JSF specification ...there are lots of libraries ..some of them are paid and some of them are open source ....like ICEFaces is paid and myfaces is open source (from apache)...IceFaces support AJAX support in his component ...

ICEfaces components are now open source.
My vote goes for:
Struts2 and Seam (since you are familiar with JSF).
