How can I read the post other than the last 1,2,3,4 pages?

I thought all the pages/posts available are shown . I believe if you dont see a link for a page'X' then may be that 'X' does'nt exist.
May be Ajith could tell us more abt this.

Hi Patrick,
In the top right hand corner of the page showing messages in the forum should be a drop down list of what range of posts should be displayed. (It is right underneath the icon). You can set that to whatever period you would like to see posts for. Setting it to "Show all topics" gives me 65 pages of topics dating back to September 9th 1999.
Does that give you what you want?

going by the subject line is it possible to know which was the first post in this site?

If you read through this post, there is a claim that it is the first post on Paul's site (from it's "Electric Pork Chop" days - before the merge with JavaRanch). And you can also read some of the history of JavaRanch.
