Hi:

I am exploring the option of having autocomplete feature for a text field(username).
Scenario:Type username partially and select the user.On selecting the user his/her address should be populated.

Questions/Concerns regarding the above scenario:
1)There are around 15,000 users. Is it possible to have an autocomplete feature with the size of the data that we are dealing with?

Any ideas or solutions to handle the above mentioned scenario is greatly appreciated.Thank you all for your responses!!!

Thanks,

Potentially, but it depends on how the value space is dispersed, since you want to make sure that your typeahead never gets killed trying to send too much data at a time.

In most cases, it's not considered good security practice to volunteer user IDs, though. Ever notice that almost always when you have a login fail the message is something like "Invalid user ID or password?". It's not the usual programmer laziness - it's because it makes it twice as hard for someone to break in. If you know a user ID, you can guess passwords for it, but if you know neither user ID or password, there's a lot more guessing required.
