Hi,
Hibernate is an open source object-relational mapping framework and persistence layer for Java. You use it to abstract your relational database into Java classes/objects and then save those objects into the database. It uses runtime reflection to determine what tables/columns your Java classes/fields map to. These mappings are stored in one or more XML files.
