Hibernate database connection property quesition

I am new to database connectivity and
am trying to use hibernate.
I am trying to set up hibernate and I
run into the configuration setting:



Can someone please explain how to correctly define the location
of the database. I am using MS SQL Server 2000 with the
sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver jdbc driver.

Fellow Ranchers,

I have figured out my problem, and wish to post my solution for those
lost like I am, and was.

Problem Statement: I am trying to use Hibernate to connect to my SQL Server 2000 Database. I have an ODBC Connection active to the database called 'Employees'. I am trying to set the property in the hibernate.properties file called:



This URL baffled me after looking at the other posts on the internet, and finally found a piece of text that helped tremendously.
The correct format of this URL is the following:



or, in my case


Also, to add some more knowledge at you, if you are using the JDBC driver that Sun provides, use the following for your driver configuration in the hibernate.properties file.



And whenever you are running MS SQL Server 2000, this is the dialect that needs to be set in the hibernate.properties file:



I hope that this posting helps someone desperately trying to figure out the Hibernate initial setup.
