Dear authors,

Is Hibernate also intended to be used
along with serialization of objects,
or is an object always related to
tables and attributes. Therefore
a serialized object would 'just'
be the value of an attribute if an
application want's to store it
serialized?

Cheers,

If the question is about Hibernate supporting other persistence system than RDBMS the answer is no.
If the question is about Hibernate supporting BLOB/CLOB than the answer is yes. As Hibernate is a higher layer than JDBC (which offers support for BLOB/CLOB depended however on the backend DB) it is also able to use 'em.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
