Hibernate and JDO

Hello Christian Bauer and Gavin King,
What are the main differences between Hibernate and JDO? I've thought about doing a little JDO but this is the first time I have ever heard of Hibernate. It sounds like they are pretty comparable.
Thank you,
Ryan

JDO: spec stuff targetting persistence (no restrictions on support)
Hibernate: ORM - solving the so-called object/relational paradigm mismatch (solving persistence of objects against RDBMS).
