Hello!

Does Hibernate allways need a database?
I mean that is it possible to serialize objects to filesystem.

Anyone know how to do this?

Cheers,

hi

hibernate needs a database. after all it's a Object Relational Mapper :-)
why do you want to serialize to filesystem ?

Sometimes it would be just easier to do test code without installing database. That's why I would use filesystem in some cases.

indeed it would be easier without installing a RDBMS (installing Oracle takes ages i think).
perhaps daffodil or hsqldb (http://hibernate.org/80.html) are easier to install than oracle. MySQL is also very easy to install.
